Create an Internet Shortcut (.URL) File Using Delphi
Unlike regular .LNK shortcuts (that point to a document or an application), Internet Shortcuts point to a URL (web document). Heres how to create a .URL file, orà Internet Shortcut, using Delphi. The Internet Shortcut object is used to create shortcuts to Internet sites or web documents. Internet shortcuts are diverse from regular shortcuts (which contain data in a binary file) that point to a document or an application. Such text files with a .URL extension have their content in INI file format. The easiest way to look inside a .URL file is to open it inside Notepad. The content (in its simplest form) of an Internet Shortcut could look like this: As you can see, .URL files have an INI file format. The URL represents the address location of the page to load. It must specify a fully qualifying URL with the format protocol://server/page.. Simple Delphi Function to Create an .URL File You can easily programmatically create an Internet shortcut if you have the URL of the page to which you want to link. When double-clicked, the default browser is launched and displays the site (or a web document) associated with the shortcut. Heres a simple Delphi function to create a .URL file. The CreateInterentShortcut procedure creates a URL shortcut file with the provided file name (FileName parameter) for the given URL (LocationURL), overwriting any existing Internet Shortcut with the same name. Heres a sample usage: A few notes: You could save a web page as MHT (web archive) and then create a .URL shortcut to be able to access an offline version of a web document. You must provide a full file name, along with the .URL extension, for the FileName parameter. If you already have an Internet Shortcut you are interested in, you can easily extract the URL from an Internet Shortcut (.url) file. Specifying the .URL Icon One of the neater features of the .URL file format is that you can change the shortcuts associated icon. By default the .URL will carry the icon of the default browser. If you want to change the icon, you only have to add two additional fields to the .URL file, as in: The IconIndex and IconFile fields let you specify the icon for the .URL shortcut. The IconFile could point to your applications exe file (IconIndex is the index of the icon as a resource inside the exe). Internet Shortcut to Open a Regular Document or an Application Being called an Internet Shortcut, a .URL file format does not permit you to use it for something elseââ¬âsuch as a standard application shortcut. Note that the URL field must be specified in the protocol://server/page format. For example, you could create an Internet Shortcut icon on the Desktop that points to your programs exe file. You only need to specify the file:/// for the protocol. When you double click on such a .URL file, your application will be executed. Heres an example of such an Internet Shortcut: Heres a procedure that places an Internet Shortcut on the Desktop, the shortcut points to the *current* application. You can use this code to create a shortcut to your program: Note: simply call CreateSelfShortcut to create a shortcut to your program on the Desktop. When to Use .URL Those handy .URL files will be useful for virtually every project. When you create a setup for your applications, include a .URL shortcut inside the Start menuââ¬âlet users have the most convenient way to visit your website for updates, examples, or help files.

The Aspects Of My Interview Style - 1130 Words
. Part one will discuss the aspects of my interview style. This will included how I felt about my performance and what I wished I have done differently. It also, will include the things that I believe I done my best when conducting the interviews with the client. What skills do you notice in your interview style? The skills that I noticed during my interview style was that I was an active and attentive listener. I believe that I let the client discuss her situation, while doing so I emphasized that I understood how hard it could be being a single parent. I believe I could have been a little more reflective but my client spoke a lot and I did not want to interrupt her. What did you notice about your verbal and non-verbal behavior?â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦My client may have saw me as someone to go and vent to about her current situation in life. Since I allowed the client to speak about anything that was concerning her, she had the freedom to do so. One of the problems presented from the client was that she wanted to become a better parent. Therefore, I informed the client about parenting classes. She stated that her son was acting out and disciplining him seemed to be ineffective. I gave her the options of going another route on how to discipline the child. I explained that there were different methods to use while disciplining her child, one was time out or taking away one of his toys. After the client visited the parenting classes, she said the classes went into detail about different methods on how to discipline a child. She tried out this new methods, by taking away his game, and to her surprise, this discipline method was effective. Ther efore, I believe my intervention was effective, because the clientââ¬â¢s issue with her son acting out and her parenting skills, where addressed and she claimed she saw improvement. What did you do well and what did you wish you had done differently? The thing I did well was listening to the clients needs and allowing the client to determine her own self-determination. The client came up with some goals to accomplish during the visits with the social worker and she accomplished those goals. The thing I wish I would have done differently, was more involvement with the

Cons of Judicial Review free essay sample
Judicial review is unlike almost every other aspect of the American legal and legislative processes. Itââ¬â¢s different for several reasons, but it is most unique in the sense that it was put into practice before it was put in to the books as law. It was instituted by Chief Justice John Marshall in 1803ââ¬â¢s landmark case Marbury v. Madison. Judicial review has been around for over 200 years, and it still draws as much criticism today as it did the day it was instituted. John Marshall was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for 34 years and presided over some of the most important and famous trials in our countryââ¬â¢s history, trials such as McCulloch v. Maryland, Cohens v. Virginia, and perhaps most infamously, the Aaron Burr treason trial. But all of these cases pale in comparison to the impact of Marbury v. Madison, both then and now. In ruling that Congress does not have the power to change an opinion of the court, and that the Constitution supersedes any act of Congress it is in conflict with (in this case the Judiciary Act of 1789), Marshall perhaps forever changed the course of law in America. We will write a custom essay sample on Cons of Judicial Review or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Marshallââ¬â¢s decision in Marbury was formed not by the facts of the case, but rather whether he had the jurisdiction to hear the case at all. The case went directly to the Supreme Court because Marbury was seeking a writ of mandamus and the Judiciary Act of 1789 states that the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction in such cases. Article III of the Constitution, however, lists situations in which the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction and writ on mandamus cases are not one of the situations given. Given these facts, it was Marshallââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"emphatic and provincial dutyâ⬠to say what the law of the land should be. He ruled that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and that judges shall not enforce a law they deem to be unconstitutional. The decision in Marbury v. Madison sent immediate and long reaching shock waves through the U. S. , and with good reason. With one decision on what seemed to be a relatively routine case, John Marshall was able to put the Supreme Court, and as such the entire judicial branch, on equal footing with the legislative and executive branches, placing them firmly into the American political process. This new-found strength and importance was met with resistance and resentment at the time, animosity which still exists in some circles today. In my opinion, judicial review is one of the key responsibilities of the Supreme Court, as it is a sort of ââ¬Ësafety netââ¬â¢ to keep the law from running to any extreme; or away from the Constitution, hich states the principals on which our country was built. As seen in U. S. v. Carolene Products Co. it helps to protect groups of minorities (whether physical or ideological) from a majority trying to over rule them. There are, however, many critics of judicial review who feel it provides a group that is supposed to be neutral a chance to have the final say on issues that are often times divisive. According to them, it is not the duty of the court to shape the law, but rather simply enforce it. The thought that a group of people who are appointed for life and face no real consequences for their decisions can overrule the elected officials doing the will of the people is, in their mind, wrong. They believe that the decisions made today should not be forced to conform to a maddingly vague, centuries-old document. There is also the rather ironic argument that judicial review, in and of itself, is unconstitutional. Nowhere in the Constitution is the power of judicial review given to the courts, and for some that leads to charges of hypocrisy. How can the decisions the court makes on the constitutionality of a law be considered binding, when there is nothing saying the Supreme Courtââ¬â¢s word is final. By instituting judicial review, John Marshall was able to give his branch of government, which was at the time the weakest, the final say in all matters pertaining to the law and in essence, all matters of life in the U. S. His ideals have stood the test of time, and will continue to be the way our country is run for a long time to come. Love it or hate it, judicial review is going nowhere.

History Of Contraception essays
History Of Contraception essays Through the centuries, women and men have been searching for the ultimate contraceptive. Many different methods have been tried and many have failed. Some have been painful or comfortable and others ineffective and others effective. Either way different methods have been past down from generations. In the paragraphs below histories of various methods of contraceptives will be discussed. The first method is the natural method. In the past, women used to nurse their children for two or three years. This would suppress ovulation protecting them from pregnancy. Another natural method is coitus reservatus or withholding ejaculation. This meant that the male would not ejaculate in the female, but hold the ejaculation back. Another effective natural method is coitus interruptus or withdrawing before ejaculation. The process of coitus interruptus involves the male withdrawing the penis from the female before ejaculation occurs. Most of these methods were effective yet dangerous. The other form of contraception is known as the artifical method. This method uses unnatural barriers or chemicals to kill, block or slow down sperm. h Abstinence is free and available to everyone. h It's extremely effective at preventing both pregnancy and infection. h It can be started at any time in your life. h Abstinence may encourage people to build relationships in other ways. h Sometimes people change their mind in the heat of the moment and might not have birth control handy. h Some people find not having sex frustrating. Sometimes, if you give birth and only feed the baby from your bodies own milk, it is quite likely that your periods will not return for a number of months. If this is the case, then the woman probably won't get pregnant during the first 6 months of breastfeeding. After the baby is 6 months old, the contraceptive effect of breastfeeding decreases, especially if she start hav...

Managing diversity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Managing diversity - Essay Example For instance there are entrepreneurial, bureaucratic and autocratic organizations or/and leadership styles. They need equally diverse and effective theoretical approaches for diversity management. Multicultural organizations such as in those of European countries have been the results of an evolutionary process of managing diversity of the workforce. The different types of individual diversity such as age, gender and ethnic origin will lead to such job performance, satisfaction and vertical mobility of employees within the organization (Jayne, & Dipboye, 2004). However the diversity management has affected the organizational and individual levels of performance depending on the part-time employeesââ¬â¢ contribution versus the full time employeesââ¬â¢ efficiency to the overall growth of the organization. Organizational diversity management has become a very important aspect in the modern day management practice. Diversity is desirable when everything else has failed to ensure the continuous survival of the business. However diversity in itself might not be desirable when the degree of resistance to differ become stronger because when resistance gathers momentum that in itself is an indicator of the existence of other solutions. If organizational change were focused on improving critical success factors related to financial management, Human Resource Management (HRM), employee relations, supply chain management, quality management, marketing and corporate social responsibility (CSR), then the organization would have to face considerable resistance. In the first instance managing workforce diversity is a significant important element in organizations while flexibility and creativity are considered as keys to compete successfully in the business environment. It is all the more difficult to manage the process of diversity smoothly because employees depending on their attitude to change would not remain silent. Thus as much as
